On August 17, 2024, the first vessel named SITC SHANGHAI on maiden call of the CKV service operated by SITC officially berthed at Nam Dinh Vu Port. The CKV service (connecting goods from Vietnam to China and South Korea, with the route: Haiphong - Chulai - Danang - Shekou - Dalian - Inchon - Qingdao - Shanghai) marks a significant milestone as it is the first time SITC Shipping has operated a vessel at Nam Dinh Vu Port.
This collaboration is the result of the trust and support from SITC and import-export customers, the reputation of Gemadept Corporation in port operations, the operational capabilities and service quality of Nam Dinh Vu Port, and especially the advantage of the channel depth.
Accordingly, Nam Dinh Vu Port has officially put into operation a channel depth of -8.5m following the implementation of the Hai Phong Maritime Channel Upgrade Project, from the turning basin of HICT Port to Nam Dinh Vu Port (as per Announcement No. 225/2024/TBHH-TCTBĐATHHMB dated July 27, 2024).
With the goal of further enhancing the capacity and image of the maritime industry in Hai Phong, this project helps alleviate bottlenecks in vessel reception at river ports, significantly improving vessel operation efficiency, ensuring cargo safety, and aiming to reduce logistics costs.
